A lot of Ogden homeowners who call us have never had a floor coated before. This post walks through the whole thing — from the first call to driving your truck on the finished floor.
Step 1: The Free Quote
We come out, look at the garage, measure the square footage, and check the slab condition. We’ll look for cracks, check for moisture if there’s any sign of it, and note if there’s existing sealer or paint that needs to come off. The quote we give you after that visit includes everything — prep, materials, and labor. No surprise add-ons. Most Ogden quotes happen within a day or two of your call.
Step 2: Before We Arrive
You need to clear the garage completely. Everything out — vehicles, bikes, shelves, boxes, everything. Any oil stains on the floor don’t need pre-treatment from you — we handle that during prep.
Step 3: Day 1 — Prep
We bring the grinder in and run diamond grinding over the entire surface. After grinding, we repair any cracks and check that the surface profile meets spec. If we’re installing a vapor barrier, it goes down before the base coat. For most Ogden garages, prep and the base coat happen on Day 1. We leave it to cure overnight.
Step 4: Day 2 — Topcoat and Finish
We come back the next morning, do a final check of the base coat, and apply the topcoat — either a solid color or polyaspartic over a decorative flake broadcast. We’re typically done and out by early afternoon on Day 2.
Step 5: Cure and Return to Use
Foot traffic: 12–24 hours after topcoat. Vehicle traffic: 24–48 hours after topcoat. Full cure is 7 days — the floor gets tougher every day for the first week.
Common Questions
“Do I need to reseal it every year?” No. A polyaspartic topcoat doesn’t need annual resealing.
“Will it crack if I drive a heavy truck on it?” The coating is not load-bearing — the concrete underneath is. If the slab is in good shape and we repaired the cracks before coating, normal vehicle traffic is fine.
